Astier is one of the fathers of Parisian bistro cuisine.
Opened by Mr and Mrs Astier in 1956, the restaurant established itself as the Parisian address for "living and eating well" by serving fresh traditional cuisine of quality at what were very reasonable prices.
A few years later, Michel Picquart picked up the torch, continuing to deliver cuisine based on the highest quality products and founding Paris' Bistrot owners for the joy of organic wine (Gramenon, Dard & Ribot, etc...).
Michel Picquart entrusted Astier to his closest collaborators in 1995, they too carefully preserved the spirit of "eating well at the right cost".
In 2006, Frédéric Hubig-Schall bought Astier. He entrusted the keys of the kitchen to Benjamin Bajolle (formarly of Meurice) then to Christophe Kestler (of St. Régis) and those of the cellar to Robert Henry. In the heart of the bustling 11th district, Astier is steeped in tradition. Red checkered tablecloths, wood panelling, vintage photos hang on the wall as well as diplomas and certificates from "confréries", the revolution era French fraternities... The atmosphere is authentically vintage.
Today, under the leadership of Chiefs Cyril Boulet (Robuchon, Troisgros and Marc Meneau) and Mathieu Le Tirrand (ex Alain Dutournier) while offering an awesome wine list of nearly 350 bottles that features the great appellations of Burgundy and the Rhone Valley and due to the warm welcome of Bruno, Caroline, Arnaud and all the staff, Astier's cuisine remains one of the guardians of Parisian hospitality and gastronomy.
